![]() Map of Lowertown as it is today. My Ottawa LandrysI started this project in 1992. Twenty-four years later, I have created a database of 60,000+ records for the various branches of the Landrys in Canada. I will eventually expand this website, but for now, I thought it was time to share some research. On the right, you will find menu bars that provides information on the Landrys in the Ottawa area. The first feature--focuses on the Landry families from Lowertown. Within Lowertown there were four main francophone parishes: Notre Dame, Ste-Anne, St. Joseph, and St. Charles. This where I chose to concentrate my efforts. In this database you will find 5 generations starting with my grandparents, Jean-Valmore Landry (1889-1962) and Clara Houle (1895-1976). This journey will take us to St-Eustache, Quebec and Jacques-Antoine Landry (1781-1832) and Marguerite Mondoux (1784-1863). Jacques and Marguerite had 14 children of which three (Francois, Felix and Jeremie) established their families in Ottawa. So began the Ottawa connection with my Landry branch. The second feature--focuses on the Landry soldiers of the First World War One. The third feature-- Landrys in the Ottawa City Directories. The fourth feature-- is a database where you can search for the mariage of anybody that lived in Lowertown. The fifth feature-- is a dedication to my father Jean-Edouard Landry Jean-Edouard Landry. The sixth feature is under construction.I am not working on this project alone. Bob Bullock (4th cousin once removed) and I have been researching the Landry line for the better part of 15 years now. We were introduced by the local archivist after he realized we were working on the same family. I would like to thank Bob for his continuing help. Feature Articles
