Obituary for Gerard Ovila Cyr
Gerard Ovila Cyr, son of the late Ovila and Joséphine (Rochon) Cyr, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at age 80.
Gerry was the beloved husband and soulmate of Lorna Hill; loving Father of Sonja (Gilles) and the late Franklin Cyr and Stepfather to Sharon Hill (Christopher) and Janet Hill (Daniel). He will be fondly remembered by his extended family by marriage; his many nieces, nephews and his good friends.
Predeceased by his brothers Marcel and Lucien and grandson Christopher Harris; he is survived by six of his eight siblings, Annette (Maurice), Hélène (Serge), Diane (Michel), Richard, Jacqueline and Michel (Andrée) and sister-in-law Claudette.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the doctor’s, nurses and staff of the St. Vincent Hospital, Section C, 2nd floor for their care and support over the past several months.
Family and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11a.m. A lunch reception will take place after the service followed by Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carleton Place.
In Memoriam, donations to University of Ottawa Heart Institute or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
